Path to the Passion: Navigating the Wilderness of Lent. Lent is a graced season in Christian tradition, inviting us to set aside 40 days each year with renewed intention to deepen the inner work we each need to do in order to go out into the world to seek and serve Christ in all persons with compassion, love, and hope. The journey of Lent is both profoundly solitary and entirely communal. Join us this Lent as we travel the path to Christ’s Passion, taking a fresh look at the Lenten practices that can serve as a means of introspection, healing, forgiveness, and offering. This journey invites renewed reflection and deepened faith, preparing us to meet the resurrected Christ.
Path to the Passion provides a rhythm for the weeks of Lent: Mondays, a new prayer practice; Tuesdays, a tool for self-examination and discovery; Wednesdays, walking as a spiritual practice; Thursdays, an opportunity for self-giving; and Fridays, an invitation to fast and reflect.
How does it work?
Participants may join as individuals, couples, or part of a larger group from a congregation. The week prior to Ash Wednesday, each participant will be mailed materials for the experience. A variety of inspiring online resources will also be provided using the Canvas learning platform. Throughout the season of Lent, Path to the Passion participants will gather each Thursday, 12:00-1:00 pm, for times of worship, presentations, and sharing in small groups. Participants also will be invited to engage in asynchronous discussions in Canvas throughout the week. Morning Prayer and Compline will be offered on regular days.
The cost is $50 for individuals/$65 for couples, with half of all registration fees donated to a nonprofit supporting the mental health and wellbeing of people across Colorado during this time of pandemic. (St. Paul’s has funds to cover registration costs. Please contact the Rev. Catie Greene revcatie@steamboatstpauls.org).
