December 2024 - The St. Clare of Assisi Chapter of the Daughters of the King sponsored a High Tea in the lovely Old Stone Church at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church as a gift to the Steamboat Springs community on Saturday, December 14th.
It was a huge success with 60 ladies attending with 15 ladies from the Heart of Steamboat Methodist Church and 8 ladies from Casey’s Pond Senior Living Community. A few ladies drove up from Denver just to attend!
We had 5 girls from the combined St. Paul’s and Heart of Steamboat Church Youth Group helping assemble and serve. They were so polite, attentive, and willing to help. The ladies loved having the girls serve!
Vincent Lee, St. Paul’s Church Music Minister, played the piano which completed the ambiance!
It takes a “village” to do something like this. So many people were willing to help. Ladies made the sandwich filling, baked vegan brownies and scones, gluten-free sandwiches were made for the couple of ladies that were gluten-free and there even was chocolate from Belgium and Switzerland that was brought back from a recent Christmas Market cruise on the Rhine!
They even shared their beautiful china to set all the tables. Many of the guests said that it was so nice to have a fun event where they could come and enjoy lovely food in a beautiful setting and have time to just chat. This was truly a service to our community. Thank you to all who helped make this wonderful event happen!
November 2024 - St. Paul's hosted a Harry Potter Movie Night in the Old Stone Church (OSC). The evening was a delightful mix of magic, community, and warmth, as over 40 children and many additional adults gathered to experience the wonders of Hogwarts in the charming OSC.
The OSC was transformed into a Hogwarts look alike, with floating candles, a flying Nimbus 2000, and hanging brass keys adding to the charm. The atmosphere was festive and welcoming, and very much had a ‘wow’ effect when you walked in. Guests were treated to a magical menu featuring Bangers and Mash, Hagrid’s meat pies, Treacle Tart, Butterbeer, and Butterbeer Fudge.
While the numbers were certainly impressive, I believe that success isn’t just about crowd size, it’s about how people are treated and how they feel during their time with us. I heard there were some in attendance who have rarely, if ever, been in a church. We were honored to provide an environment where they could feel accepted, valued, and a part of something special.
I’ve enjoyed reading the Harry Potter series with my oldest and I love how much Harry Potter highlights the struggle between light and darkness. It’s a story of an underdog who, despite facing adversity, rises to stand up for what is right and befriends those considered outcasts.
This universal narrative reminds us of the power of courage, friendship, and standing up for the greater good. The event was a wonderful reminder of the kind of community we strive to build at St. Paul’s—one where everyone, no matter their background, is valued and encouraged to be their best self.
In the end, this Harry Potter Movie Night was a wonderful use of the Old Stone Church, not only as a building but as a place that fosters belonging, joy, and shared experiences. I look forward to more opportunities to open our doors and hearts to our community.
I am very grateful to all the people in our community who contributed to make this event a reality. They helped with decorating, making food, serving, cleaning, prepping speeches, bringing materials, being an amazing shorting hat, and staying through it all! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Blessing of the Animals
A wonderful celebration of our furry and not so furry friends was held in the courtyard during an outdoor service. From lots of dogs and a cat to lizards, chicken and rabbit, photos of horses and loved companions, all were welcome and blessed by Father Jeremy last Sunday. A chilly start to another fall day provided lots of opportunities for gallantry by husbands and partners and sharing of the bounty of fleeces by those more prepared! What a fabulous gathering demonstrating God’s love of his creation!
Many thanks for all those who helped make our
July 4th Hot Dog Extravaganza

Our Daughters of the King, in partnership with LIFT UP, working on their annual Easter ‘BAGS OF BLESSINGS.’ They provide all the food stuffs necessary for a lovely Easter dinner - including a ham - for 60 families in Routt County. Thank you Ladies!!
“It is so much fun to work together. This is completed with the help of Lift Up, who hand out the bags. The congregation has been very generous and the additional money collected is given to Lift Up. This year we will donate an additional $900! Following ALL that work of putting the bags together, we went out to breakfast and continued to enjoy our time together.” -Marty Kilhefner
2022 Christmas Eve Pageant Rehearsals… exciting!
Father Will and some of our youngest parishioners during the November 27th service in the Sanctuary. Our children's sermon was about patience, the meaning of Christmas as expressed through the Nutcracker Suite, and the presence of Christ.

Thank goodness for Leonard! Henri was eager to hear that a new buddy would be able to take him out for a brisk walk at a time when his owner could not do so.

October 2, 2022 - Our annual Feast of St. Francis Celebration!
We love our Pets and they love to come to church for an annual blessing
St. Francis is the patron saint of animals and the environment and worship inspired by this Feast typically includes pet blessings, prayers for environmental protection and conservation, and a call to a lifestyle based in simplicity and service of others. It is an annual tradition here at St. Paul’s.
October, 2022 - Our 1st intergenerational Community and Family Gathering - a space for anyone, any age! This month we engaged in the idea of being the body of Christ, each with our own gifts to share in our larger community.
To our young parishioners that are off to new journeys…
Best of Luck in your New Adventures!

EASTER POTLUCK DINNER
On Easter Sunday, the Schwindys and the Wodniks hosted a potluck dinner at the Wodnik’s house.
There were 12 people who attended and had a wonderful time. They were so happy to be able to go to someone’s house to share a good meal and have a conversation. Many topics circled the table in the relaxed atmosphere.
Let me backup a minute and explain how this meal came about. Rick interviewed Sandy for the Genesis 2 project that St. Paul’s is participating in along with churches in Colorado as well as all over the US. Part of the interview was for Sandy to dream her ideal future for St. Paul’s Church. The question that Rick asked Sandy was, “How do people want to be connected?” Sandy’s response included being able to visit with each other, interpersonal actions such as progressive dinners and other social activities. These would be activities for couples that have no religious theme or question to answer; just to be able to get together for good conversation and connect with other people.
It is important for our church members to get to know each other. Social activities are a great way to accomplish this. People get to tell their stories which can become a commonality with other people that starts conversation and other activities together. Gathering in people’s homes brings hospitality and the feeling of being welcome in a comfortable place. Add in good food and you have a magical, relaxed atmosphere!
Sandy and I want to do this again sometime this summer when it’s warm enough for a backyard BBQ. We would like to have others join in with us!
Happy Easter!

WELL DONE BOYS!!
We wanted to say "Well done!" to our sons Oliver (8yrs) and Thomas (6yrs) who have recently donated their hair (this is Oliver's 2nd time donating!) to Children With Hair Loss. They have been growing it out for years specifically to give it to children who don't have hair.
We are so proud of you boys!! - Mama & Daddy
