Our Rector,
The Rev. Jeremy Lucas
The Rev. Jeremy Lucas has served the Episcopal and Anglican church for over 25 years, and strives to embody the roles of priest, teacher, and social justice advocate, by instilling values of kindness, generosity, and radical inclusion.
Prior to becoming a priest, Jeremy practiced law, with an emphasis on criminal justice reform, business ethics and violence prevention. He notably spearheaded the initiative to pass Alabama's first felony animal cruelty law.
Originally from Birmingham, and rooted in his Alabama upbringing, his ministry is inspired by the civil rights leaders of the south. His advocacy for social justice and community healing has led him to take strong public stands against racial discrimination and gun violence.
Jeremy attended seminary in New York City at The General Theological Seminary and has served in a variety of ministries in the Diocese of Alabama, Olympia, and Oregon. For several years he served as the dean of the smallest cathedral in the Anglican communion in Windoek, Namibia in the Province of Southern Africa. He lives in Portland, Oregon and enjoys public storytelling, writing, birdwatching, and running.
