Carolyn’s Tips:
To charge electronics while abroad, consider bringing a small power strip (with USBs) with a European plug! Plug it in and from there, you can use your US cords!
Προσοχή! You will not be able to use your US hairdryer, even with an adaptor; a heavy converter is required (my experience with these isn’t great). If you must have a hair dryer, consider buying a European version on Amazon. A quick search found these two options:
Overseas Calling/Texting - Consider downloading Whatsapp on your phone before your departure - for FREE texting and calling while abroad.
Most Europeans use Whatsapp instead of Texting (b/c texting isn’t free or cheap and iphones aren’t as popular in Europe). So even if you plan for an international calling plan with your regular cell provider, whatsapp will likely be helpful to have for communicating with anyone local - like your tour guide or new friends that you meet! You can also send photos and voice recordings - all for free. (of course, you should double check this with your provider since things change in the cell world quite quickly!)
