Our Rector Search
July, 2024 - Parish Survey Results Here
Many thanks to the 117 parishioners who responded to the parish profile survey! In line with our inclusive outlook, the Search Committee and Vestry reached out to parishioners that have been involved with St Paul’s since 2019, ballooning the number of potential survey respondents.
We estimate that 50% and more of the potential respondents to the survey completed it. And nearly all of you who started the survey answered all the questions. This response exceeded the Search Committee's goals and the results are fairly representative of the congregation as a whole.
Click here for the survey results. Highlights are on the 1st two pages; all details on the remaining ten pages.
Please join us on Sunday, July 14th, after services for discussion of the Parish Survey results.
June, 2024 - Timeline
April, 2024 - The What For, Why, & When of the Parish Survey
What For?
The last parish survey was done about 10 years ago and much has changed during that time. There is a process required by the diocese to post our rector position which includes (1) where St Paul’s is today (2) where the parish aspires to go and (3) characteristics of a new rector that we feel would best partner with us to move toward our goals. Surveys systematically invite input from ALL parishioners. As St Paul’s is a resort community church with part time members that enrich our church community during various seasons, a survey is the only way to ensure we are being inclusive of all regular members and attendees.
Why?
Most importantly, the survey results will be highlighted in the Parish Profile - our primary document to let potential candidates know who we of St Paul’s Steamboat are today and our vision for the future. The survey responses will also help to inform the Search Committee on the skill set needed in the new rector to move the congregation forward to fulfill its top priorities which will also be clearly identified by the survey.
When?
Planned launch is the beginning of May, just over a week away. We are finalizing logistics. Please stay tuned to your enews or church announcements for updates. The plan is to send a Survey Link by email. Those preferring in person assistance will have 2 or 3 Sundays to come before or after church to have someone walk you through the process on a borrowed laptop in the church library.
We strongly encourage you to be a part of the process of identifying a new rector for St Paul’s by completing the Parish Survey so that we, together, can realize the potential that God has created in our unique church community.

Please be sure we have your CURRENT email address
The Search Committee has completed the parish survey and is planning to send it out to the congregation the beginning of May. Email will be our primary means of communication.
If you are receiving emails from the church, you are good. If you have recently changed your email address and may not have updated it with St Paul’s, please email or call June in the office at office@steamboatstpauls.org or (970)879-0925.
We need your input on the survey! Your participation will aid us in compiling the most accurate information possible. The survey responses will be a critical part of the Parish Profile which is the primary source of information that potential rector candidates will have on the observations and visions of the people of St Paul’s. Your help is greatly appreciated!!
Thank you, Search Committee
Note: in person options to complete the survey will be available before and after church from early to mid May. Stay tuned for specifics.
February, 2024
Thank you! to all for your input to our Discernment Dialogues and personal discussions. Your hopes, dreams and ideas will drive the creation of our very short (so Louise and Mary promise me 😃) Rector Search Survey, coming soonish. After the results are tabulated, we will hold a parish meeting to review the results with everyone to be sure that we got it right.
The specific vision of the congregation going forward, expressed in the survey in terms of ministries of St Paul’s, both within the church, in our local community as well as our world, forms the heart of our Parish Profile. We plan to complete our Parish Profile and post our Rector position opening shortly after the survey and parish meeting. Stay Tuned!
Parish Prayer for the Search Committee
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church at St Paul’s, and so guide the Search Committee and Vestry to find and choose a rector for this Parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for Your people and encourage our ministries; through Jesus Christ our LORD. Amen

We value your Input!
The Search Committee is compiling a Parish Profile to share with potential Rector candidates. The Profile articulates who we are as the people of St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Steamboat Springs, as well as the gifts we are seeking in a new Rector. We need to hear your thoughts, concerns, observations, and dreams!
One of the many challenges of living in a beautiful resort town is welcoming and connecting with the entirety of our St Paul’s community: full time residents who attend Sunday services, locals with heavy schedule commitments, part time residents who visit with favorable weather, those who travel frequently and those whose ideas come late at night.
We’ve planned several different ways to engage and are hopeful that these options meet the diverse needs of our parishioners and attendees. You are invited to participate in as many of these that work for you.

Email anyone on the Search Committee with your thoughts/questions. Email addresses found here..
Anonymous Thoughts/Questions via the locked box in the Narthex.
The broader the participation, the more accurate and authentic our Profile will be. We look forward to hearing from each of you.
Thank you!
